We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Golden Scissor Awards, a ground-breaking initiative created by Melanie Winters-Holmes to celebrate the milestones and achievements of competitive groomers.
Our main objectives are to provide groomers with the opportunity to perfect and develop their grooming skills in the open class, to give credibility to the term “Champion,” and to create a structure that allows groomers to achieve recognized awards in a fair and valid way. We couldn’t be more excited to be bringing this to life with the help of Charlotte Howard and Colin Taylor.

Why?
For a long time groomers were made to move to Champion class 12 months after their first 1st placement in Open class.
We believe that this made people move up before they we actually ready to make that leap. Due to this many groomers stopped competing as it was demoralising as they felt they could not fairly compete with people already in that Champion class.
By giving groomers three wins in Open class before moving to Champion this gives them a better chance amongst the cream of competitive grooming.
Who is it for?
Anyone entering an eligible UK Open or Champion class in the following categories:
- Asian Freestyle Classic
- Gundog
- Handstrip
- Poodle
- Purebreed
- Salon Freestyle
How do I acheive a GSA?
You will be awarded a Golden Scissor Award when you win your class in the categories previously mentioned. You should then submit your details and upload your podium photo on the form below.
